Provincial health officials shared the data that showed conjunctivitis, that cause pink eye disease, rapidly spreading throughout Pakistan.

At least 10,000 new cases reported in Pakistan. 1500 cases in Bahawalpur, 1132 cases in Faisalabad, 1048 cases in Multan and 452 cases in Lahore. Bahawalpur is on top and is on high alert.

Health department instructed eye surgeons to stay alert during these days as almost 100 thousand people get infected by pink eye disease till now. It’s a large number of people and alarming situation for health departments.

 Last week, to avoid spreading of infection government took a great step to close all the schools all around the country. School going children were complaining about pink eye disease and school administration allow infected children to remain at home till they get well.

Instructions to stay safe from pink eye

Infected people are instructed to use doctor’s recommended eye drops and clean eyes regularly. It is noticed that applying cold water on eyes provide some relax to infected eyes. Government is taking steps to stop spread of dangerous virus.

Doctors have advised to maintain cleanliness standards by avoiding share of towels and clothes. Virus does not spread through eye contact. It is spreading with the eye discharge of infected people. Doctors publish some guidelines to control the risk of disease transmission in offices and homes. People should have to maintain good hygiene and avoid sharing items with each other to reduce the risk of virus spreading.
