Aiden Markram scored the ever fastest century in the 48 years history of ODI world cups while playing its first match of World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka on Saturday in India.

Fastest century by Markram

Markram played very well and smashed 100 in just 49 balls. He breaks the record of Irish batter who scored century in just 50 balls during World Cup 2011.

South Africa was playing first against Sri Lanka. De kock and van der Dussen smashed centuries. Later, Markram comes to crease and scores 106 on 54 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 14 fours. This innings led South Africa to 429 in 50 overs. It is the highest score by any team in ODI World Cup History.
